DA14580 Boost Mode Power Consumption

Hi Dialog Team,

I developed a custom board using the DA14580. When running the chip in Buck Mode at 2.5 V, I am seeing a current of 0.15 mA. When running the chip in Boost Mode at 1.8 V (with no other changes and running the same program), I am seeing a current of 0.9 mA. I was expecting the current to be about twice of what I was seeing in Buck Mode, and not as high as 0.9 mA. Is this the typical behavior of the chip?

Thanks!

Hi mjr3vk,

Hi mjr3vk,

No, this is not normal, the current consumption when the device is awake should be maximum twice the the consumption of the buck configuration and when asleep they should be about the same. For the Buck mode 150uA is a bit weird number since this is not the value of the device (its too low to be awake and too high to be asleep). Regarding the 900uA i would assume that the device is awake and operating.
