Simulataneous Battery Charging and Operations

Good day,
Consider the following set up scenario:
There is a rechargeable battery at VBAT of the DA14680. There is also a variable external power source e.g. solar, wind, temperature at the VBUS input. According to the datasheet a comparison is made between VBUS and VBAT to deduce which will be used to power the DA14680 system. Does this check occur only when the DA14680 system is powered on or wakes up from deep sleep mode? Or does this check occur at regular intervals to the extent that the system can be powered ALL instances of variation of VBUS or VBAT provided the minimum required supply voltage is met? In other words, can the DA14680 change the power supply input (VBAT or VBUS) it uses continuously?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Regards,
Aaron.

Hi aaron.roopnarine,

Hi aaron.roopnarine,

The VBUS interrupt is of of the two interrupts that will wake up the 68x device asynchronously as soon as the voltage level exceeds the specified level, that can occur at any time even when the device is in sleep mode and not only during power up. So as soon as voltage is detected over the VBUS the device will switch the supply from the VBAT to the VBUS.
