DA14580’s unique Bluetooth low energy architecture in Buck configuration at 3.0V supply draws 5.0 mA in receive mode and 4.7 mA in transmit – 50% less than other Bluetooth Smart solutions. Additional use cases are specified in the datasheet. The peak current is only active during a short period of an Advertising or Connection Event. The average current can be calculated by measuring the energy consumption of an Event and dividing it over the Interval. Dialog has a tool available on the SmartLab web portal to measure the profile of the current consumption over time: SmartSnippet-PowerProfiler.
