Hello,
I try to measure the real performance I could expect with the DU14580 chip using these features:
Advertising continuously (500 ms or 1 s).
Featuring when connected Findme Target and/or Proximity reporter, Gap peripheral.
I tried using the "out of the box " proximity reporter full hosted with the evaluation board.
When measuring using SmartSnippets, I get a measurement of 0.3242 mA between pics.
I did the measurement with only J13, J10,J14 (buck mode) and J17. Jlink is unplugged.
Is that a normal behavior or did I miss something ?
Thanks,
best regards
你好olivier,对不起delay in response. Did you calibrate out the offset as described in the document from the web site ?

The 0.32mA you're seeing is high, so either the device isn't dropping into SLEEP mode or the offset on the DVK is being measured (this being the first thing to check)... Figure 8 &11 should be more representative of what you will see in real world application ,and smart snippets will give you the ability to measure the average . Please note that the dev kit cannot measure currents in the uA range, for that you need method 4 in the document. Later in March we will release a full reference design available for a proximity tag - i'll find the current measurements for those.
Best Regards.
Hello JE,
In fact I have now an acceptable current consumption.
SOmething was not very clear for me:
当我通过Keil使用start / stop调试命令使用jlink下载固件时,我有这个休电流消耗(即使我拔掉j-link)。
但是当我通过SmartSnippet工具下载固件时,我会得到良好的当前消费。

Hi Dialog,
I have bought the DA14580 development kits Pro, I am trying trying to use the function of current measurement from the smartsnippets, however, I can not connected the Power profiler to the board. Could you please guide me how to change the settings and connect for current measurement. I see the AN-B-015 is only saying how to setup the board for the Expert development kit.
Hi liuluan002,
The procedure is almost the same with the expert kit,
1) just connect the board to your pc
2) open the smart snippets tool
3) create a new project and select the UART/SPI mode for using the power profiler
4) choose the port that should be available (if you have plugged in the pro board).
5) select the proper chip version and choose open.
6) open the power profiler tab, hit the initialize option and press start.
The above should be enough to get you started with Smart Snippets and power profiler, also make sure that the jumpers on J1 are placed.
Thanks MT_dialog
thank you, now it works, however I measured the current consumption in the extended sleeping mode is 0.14mA from the smart snippet, my multi meter only shows 6uA. Is there anything wrong with the Pro development kit or the smart snippets?
Hi liuluan002,
Please have a look at this thread on the 2nd post, there is an offset on the board and the ADC is not capable to measure near uA level.

Thanks MT_dialog
Hi MT_dialog,
我手术后you proposed above but when i hit the initialize option, the start does not appear. Is there a problem here? The program has run and i can see the device in my smartphone.
谢谢你的帮助!
Hi haidangvu,
What is the dev kit that you are using ? Only the pro and the expert kits have the power measurement feature, you wont be able to use the power profiler with the basic. Have you selected the UART/SPI mode when smart snippets starts (not the plain UART mode) ? Does your PC finds the two Serial com ports from the pro and the expert kit ?
Thanks MT_dialog
Hi MT_Dialog,
I'm using the pro kit. i have selected UART/SPI mode but my PC seems not has Serial com ports. What can i do now? Can i use Virtual Serial Port Emulator?
Hi MT_Dialog,
When i choose UART/SPI mode and DA14583, there is a notification that "No Virtual com port or JTAG serial selected". You can see in the attached file below.
Hi MT_Dialog,
I have installed the FDTI and solved my problem. Thanks for your help!
