About the problem for downloading the firmware on to DA14580 cpu

Hello

How are you?
I am using WLCSP packages of DA14580.
I have one problem for downloading the firmware on to DA14580.
DA14580 cpu is detected by only J-Link debugger on Keil Ver 5 or SmartSnippets, other J-link debuggers doesn’t detect CPU.
I have tested it on J-Link Pro and J-Link debugger, but one debugger(with firmware ver 9.2) can detects it.
Same type of J-link debugger(with firmware ver 8.0) can’t detect it as well.
The QFN package of DA14580 and DA14583 can be detected by all J-link debuggers.

I will be great if you can give me your comment for this problem.

Thank you.

Cob

Hi Dream Cob,

Hi Dream Cob,

The 580 family and all the tools, Smart Snippets, Connection Manager, etc are tested with the JLink LITE ARM debugger, we haven't perfomed any tests with any other Jlink debugger.

Thanks MT_dialog

Hello MT_dialog

Hello MT_dialog

Thank you for your reply.

我已经测试了DA14580 DA1458芯片0 Basic devkit and DA14580 Pro devkit.
Both kits can detect the chips that mounted on the boards, but could not detect the chip we assembled.
I have checked Clock, reset and Vdcdc on cpu, they all worked well.

I have used DA14580 family chips over 1 years, but WCLSP type of chips is first time for me.
It would be great if you give me answer for this issue.

Best regards

Dream Cob

Hi Dream Cob,

Hi Dream Cob,

To get this right, you attach your custom board on the development kits and the debugger doesn't recognize your custom board, is that the case ? I ve just tested the beacon reference design on a pro and on a basic kit via jtag, i could properly download code to the WCLSP chip and connect to it via Smart Snippets by using the attached debugger on the dev kits.

Hello MT_dialog.

Hello MT_dialog.

Great thanks for your reply.
I have still the issue on my custom board.
I doubt if the DA14580 chips I purchased are bad.

Is it possible?
Or the debugging connection between DA14580 and J-Link do I have to take any care?

I have uploaded the schematic of custom board.
I have not mounted XTAL32 crystal, because I think it is for sleep mode.
Could you check my schematic?

Thank you

Dream Cob

Hi Dream Cob,

Hi Dream Cob,

I dont think that the chips are bad, regarding the XTAL if your application is in buck mode, you dont need the XTAL, please check the datasheet or the reference designs (the beacon uses a WCLSP package) in order to check the validity of your schematic, but from a quick look i can't find anything wrong with the schematic. What you can try is to check if the power supply is ok and if you can to expose some UART pins and check if the bootloader is running, and make sure that the 580 is operating.

Thanks MT_dialog
