PowerProfiler in SmartSnippet

Hi,

I'm perfectly unable to use the Power Profiler in SMartSnippet (v3.4). I did not find any clear user manual explaining how to set up the board, which connection mode to use in the Software, etc.
That should be as easy as clicking on Initialize then Start. But no.

I download the code from the "Booter" tool in SmartSnippet. It seens to work. Then I initialize and start the measurements. But no point appear when I click on Stop.

你能完整的配方(跳投,configuration, etc.) to use the too?

Thanks.
Matt

Hello Matthieu,

Hello Matthieu,

I'm sorry to hear it doesn't work for you.
1st: choose UART/SPI mode when starting SmartSnippets.
The SPI port is providing the measured supply current data to the GUI.

2nd: after the SW has been loaded, start with following settings in PowerProfiler:
Auto Trigger: ON, threshold e.g. 1 mA
Auto Stop: ON, time interval e.g. 15 msec.

These settings should show you at least an advertising event current consumption.
That hould be all. Good luck!

Best regards, BB_Dialog.

Hi,

Hi,

Unfortunately, it still does not work with you parameters: nothing is being displayed on the chart.

Hi there,

Hi there,
I too am having a challenging getting the Power Profiler to function. I went through all the instructions, downloaded .hex file to board (which worked), yet cannot get past the point of Initializing PP. Start/Stop are greyed. :-(

Tap.

Hellp Tap,

Hellp Tap,

You need to start-up Smart Snippets in SPI/UART mode : not UART mode only. I just checked this and starting in UART only mode i found exactly the same issue. If I then closed down, opened up in UART/SPI then it will spring to life. I believe its because the SPI is needed to run the on-board ADC in the hardware section of the measurement.

Hi,

Hi,

First, the power profiler tool works only with the EXPERT kit. The option to open SmartSnippets in UART/SPI mode is only available with the EXPERT kit. This is the only mode that enables power profiling.

Make sure that jumpers are set as described in Table5 of the Exper Kit User Manual (UM-B-014).

I have a DA14580 basic

I have a DA14580 basic development kit. that means I can't do the power consumption test with power Profiler? if any other function I can't use on Smart Snipdets SW for basic dev kit? I can't find any document to teach how to use those functions in SmartSnippets.

Hi yy,

Hi yy,

No, with the basic dev kit you cant use the power profiler, other than that you can use all the other functions that smart snippets provides, uart download, flash programmer etc. You can find the neccessary infos about using the Smart Snippets in smart snippets help option in the User Guide pdf.

Thanks MT_dialog
