From the BT4.1 FAQ and tech descriptions:
"Dual Mode Topology .. Device supports multiple roles simultaneously (Enables a Bluetooth Smart Ready product such as a smartphone, to act as a Bluetooth Smart Ready Hub and Bluetooth Smart peripheral at the same time)."
“双模式拓扑使双模式(BR/EDR-Low Energy) device such as a smartphone to act as a Bluetooth Smart Ready Hub and Bluetooth Smart peripheral at the same time. The device can then communicate with Bluetooth Smart peripherals on one side and another Bluetooth Smart Ready hub device on the other side."
I'm not sure why dual mode is needed, though?
Anyway, this hints at being able to build a mesh topology, I believe.
If so, will the DA14580 support 4.1 and also this mode? Or is there another solution for the chip? I understand CSR have a 4.0-based mesh solution.
Cheers
Duncan
Anyone? :-)
Hello Duncan, its currently not supported in the 3.0.2 software development kit of the DA14580. We are looking at some different options : for example, simple role switching can be one way to achieve a mesh like functionality, but we have not decided which way to implement just yet.

Hi BR,
any news of the DA14580 mesh network?
regards,
Hi There, due to the fragmented approach that sees a lot of vendors doing their own versions of a MESH with no interoperability, we have decided to wait until the bluetooth SIG officially releases a MESH profile. This will likely be supported on our next generation device (DA14680) which is sampling to first few customers now and will ahve a broader release in Q4. We're hoping by that time the SIG will ahve moved ahead with MESH as a standard. BR JE_DIalog
Hi BR,
so mesh is only for DA14680, not for 580?
I thought they were the same except the Flash ..
thanks for yr reply.
regards,
Thats correct : the 580 as its stands today is unlikely to support a future MESH. The 580 and 680 are very different animals... You can see the high level spec on the site (just see 14680 under products). BR JE_Dialog
