DA14580 Basic Development Kit COM port not present

Hello Dialog,

I am having trouble getting my computer to fully recognize the DA14580 basic development kit. When I plug in the board via USB able the "J-link driver" is installed and is visible in device manager but there are no COM ports that appear to show that the device is connected and thus I cannot set up communication via Tera Term etc.
The board itself turns on LED D1 upon connection but nothing else happens.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Are there are settings that I need to manually change for it to work?

Thanks,
svl0822

Hello svl0822, have you

Hello svl0822, have you installed the driver for the FTDI USB bridge - as per section 4.3 on page 19 of the BASIC user manual ?

JE_DIalog,

JE_DIalog,

I have done this and the COM port is still not visible. I should note that the first time I plugged in the basic development kit,it showed up and everything seemed to be working fine (Although Tera Term would freeze when I chose to connect via the COM port). After disconnecting and reconnecting the development kit once it stopped being visible.

Hello svl0822, i woudl

Hello svl0822, i woudl suggest to speak to your IT department if that is possible : it looks like your machine has a probem to detect and assign the com ports, which to me looks like a driver issue. We're unable to support driver isseus since they are third party drivers. BR JE_Dialog

JE_DIalog,

JE_DIalog,

Thank you. I'd like to stress that the first time I plugged the board into my computer, the COM ports were visible and LED D4 (red I believe) was blinking in addition to D1 being lit constantly. After installing Keil uVision, Tera Term and some of the related drivers Tera Term was not functioning (it saw the COM port device but would freeze when I tried to set up communication with it) and thus I plugged the board into a different USB port. It then stopped seeing the COM port and has not worked since.
Is it possible that switching USB ports has somehow damaged the board? I have since tried the board on two different computers and the effect is the same - D1 is lit green (but D4 is off), J-link driver is visible in device manager but the COM port is not.

你好svl0822, USB转换

你好svl0822, USB转换ports should not damage the device but it would not be without precedent : the USB chips we use are pretty robust but its not always completely 100% failsafe (I presume you properly requested to remove USB hardware through windows ?). one quick way to check functioanility is to see if you can download a project like beacon to the device through smartsnippets : this would be one way to verify the board is still fully functional. JE_Dialog,

JE_Dialog,

Thank you for the reply. I connected the board to another computer, reinstalled all the software and it is now working as advertised. Thank you for the assistance.
