Sensing battery voltage with DA7218

Is it possible to use the jack detect to sense when the battery voltage goes below a certainn threshold (to indicate low battery)?

Hello Sanner,

Hello Sanner,

This is not something we have seen before; however it might still be possible. The threshold of the comparator is limited to be 84%, 88%, 92% or 96% of our VDD, will this give you your desired threshold? You will also need to watch out for the accidently turning on the ESD diode. How important to your system is voltage monitoring?

Kind regards,

Thanks Dexter,

Thanks Dexter,

Its important to sense when the battery needs to be charged, we do not want it to run out of power without notice.

According to the datasheet there is a current generator on the HPLDET pin, if I do understand it correct.
What’s the characteristics on this current?
What’s the hysteresis, if any, for the comparator (also on the HPLDET pin)?

Hello Anders,

Hello Anders,

The current generator on the HPLDET pin, generates 0.5uA. The hysterisis of the HPLDET comparator is between 37mV and 42mV.

Kind regards,

Elliott Dexter
